I'm a huge fan, having been there to run writing camps for students many times. I've always been there with a group, so I've wondered how others would take it's 'rusticness' - no hot water, a/c etc. But I think there are enough people like you in the world who appreciate this place. As the resort is private (and hence small in scale), they probably aren't able to offer packages with reduced transport fees. I see it as a complete package, where a higher upfront transport fee is offset by the remoteness of the resort and affordability of their rates (food included!). Lazing by the private beach and getting a tan was also nice. There was even a crazy guy who borrowed the kayak and went across to the nearest island (he became a speck on the horizon)!
