My condolences to your loss and also to the families of your friends.

In a society like Singapore, where a single failure/success can make or break someone by others, it is actually understandable why some people will succumb to options like suicide. The problem is not just with people who have problems trying to reconcile their past academic success with present career failure, but there also exists the problem where people that they won't help each other to succeed.

hey james, i know how it feels. I had to see 2 youths in my church commit suicide.

In both cases, everyone felt that they had everything and a good life. What we noticed was that at the end of the day, it just wasn't good enough for them (and themselves only).

I guess the issue here is contentment. Are we happy living with a simple life? Or do we look at others and judge where we should be. Sadly, in the SG context, the latter seems to be the case.
