On the heels of an intimate fireside chat with Bunnie last week, we are taking a practical turn in our 6th Startup Roots Speaker Series.
This week: a power-packed panel on product management and design. These are skills essential to every startup, which are sometimes overlooked and maligned. So, we have put together a pretty awesome group of folks to spend the evening dishing out practical (and blunt) tips on these topics.
Navjot Pawera – BubbleMotion
Navjot Pawera, aka Nav, spends a large part of his time learning how to make internet products useful and usable. These days he works on creating new stuff at Bubble Motion, and was previously a product manager at Opera. He is also a silent partner at ExtraThought, a user experience design consultancy.
Andy Croll – Anideo
Andy Croll has worked at multiple startups as founder, contractor and employee including Anideo, ViKi and Wego. You might know him better through his blog, Gameplan, and the guy who made RedDotRubyConf happen. He’s never one to mince his words, and counts front end user experience design among his forte.
Meredith Chan – Mig33
Meredith has been in the role of Product Management across various industries, ranging from banking to telecommunications for the last 8 years. She has found her passion in developing products across devices at Yahoo. She’s developed products for markets in emerging markets like Vietnam, Indonesia and ]also worked on global social initiatives focusing on Identity and Reputation. She’s now a senior product manager at Mig33.
Wen Huang – Savant Degrees
Wen (Savant Degrees) has managed and/or developed numerous web, desktop, and mobile software products in the course of his professional career at startup companies and multinational corporations including Time Warner, Sun Microsystems, and most recently Oracle.
Zwee – Savant Degrees
Zwee started his career in software development in 1999. His entrepreneurial and technology background allowed him to consult and develop systems for companies like Kyocera Mita, Crumpler, Telkom Indonesia and other businesses with different focus, markets and size. He was at Stanford’s Management Science and Engineering early where he decided to leave the program early and join Savant Degrees.
Gary Tep – Savant Degrees
Gary (Savant Degrees) has managed and participated in the development and implementation of dozen of e-commerce system, social websites, web platforms and even open source systems in the course of his work over the past 8 years. Gary is also a User Experience consultant and has provided his UX methodology and direction to large scale projects for clients such as Sony, Vodafone and many others.
